HOUSTON FIREFIGHTERS FIGHTING TO SAVE THEIR JOBS!

A group of Houston firefighters is rallying this afternoon to save their jobs. The firefighters are gathering at the local union where they will caravan to City Hall.

238 Houston firefighters are facing layoffs because of the city's budget problems.

The union that represents the city workers has been locked in contentious negotiations last week with city administrators.

Mayor Annie Parker insists the firefighters are not giving the city long term savings in their contract negotiations.

President of the union Jeff Caynon says the city's budget woes are temporary and they've already placed $13 million in concessions on the table.

The firefighters plan to attend the weekly City Council meeting.
