HPD ROOKIE COP FOUND GUILTY OF SEXUAL ASSAULT!

HE'S BEING CALLED A RAPIST IN BLUE!

Former HPD Cop Demetrie Dixon

He's being called a rapist in blue and now a Houston police officer could be going to prison for a very long time.

It was last year when 26 year old Demetrie Dixon was arrested for sexually assaulting at least two prostitutes near west 34th street in northwest Houston.

Investigators say Dixon, a 2 year veteran of the Houston Police Department, used his authority to detain and sexually assault the hookers.

Friday morning a Harris County jury returned a guilty verdict on 2 counts of sexual assault against the rookie cop.

Prosecutors paraded a string of street walkers into the court to tell how they were victimized by Dixon.

One woman who we're not identifying told jurors in the punishment phase, "I know I'm a prostitute but I didn't deserve that."

That woman says Dixon forced her to strip nude and told her to spread her lips.

Another woman who says she no longer works the streets testified, "I was forced to perform oral sex on him...I didn't ask for this...he did this to me."

Dixon's attorney said they could not comment until after sentencing which is likely to take place Monday.

Dixon faces two to twenty years for the convictions.

FOX ANCHOR CRITICIZES HIS OWN NETWORK AND MEDIA FOR FORCING THE PRESIDENT'S HAND!

The birth certificate

Today Shepherd Smith hosted Juan Williams to discuss the release of President Obama’s “long form” birth certificate.  In the five-minute video segment which can be seen to the left, Smith and Williams condemn the media, including his own network, for generating the story over the past two years.  Smith has been willing to deliver a scathing rebuke of his own network in the past, and today’s segment followed in that pattern.

As Williams put it, the release of the long form birth certificate has not put an end to the conspiracy theories against Obama.
Now others are moving on to theories that the President somehow produced fake transcripts to get into Harvard Law School.  Williams says that the theories are being created because of a general anger towards the President and even concedes that it has a “racial tinge” to some degree.

FOX's Shep Smith
Smith says that the people pushing the birther conspiracy theory knew it was “nothing.”  He criticizes the media for reporting a “load of crap” even though they knew the story had nothing to it from the very beginning.

Smith goes on to say it “just flat sad” that people like Donald Trump are being extensively covered by then media while more important issues, such as the war in Afghanistan, go ignored.

GRANDMOTHER ARRESTED AFTER BABY LEFT IN FRONT OF LIQUOR STORE IN HOUSTON!

Merle Guice

A grandmother was charged with child endangerment after a 3-year-old child was left alone and crying in front of a liquor store.

Court documents state a passerby found the child outside the wine and liquor store while Merle Yvonne Guice, 49, was inside on April 23.

The passerby waited next to the vehicle for 15-20 minutes in the hope the child’s mother would show up, Donna Hawkins, with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, said.

The child and the passerby walked toward a Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office when Guice finally emerged from the liquor store.

Guice identified the 3-year-old as her grandchild and was subsequently charged with Endangering a Child.
Her first court appearance is scheduled for May 10.

BEYONCE' SUED OVER VIDEO GAME!

Singer Beyonce was slapped with a $100 million lawsuit Tuesday accusing her of being the "diva grinch" who ruined Christmas.

The superstar was sued in Manhattan Supreme Court by a video game company Gate Five, which teamed up with her for a dance game called "Starpower: Beyonce," the New York Post reported.
The game was due out this November, the suit says, but went belly-up when the "Single Ladies" singer abruptly asked for more money last December.

The suit calls it "a bad faith breach of contract so callous that, on what appeared to be a whim, she destroyed Gate Five's business, and drove 70 people into unemployment, the week before Christmas."
A Gate Five spokesman told the Post, "It was a very shocking and disappointing turn of events that no one saw coming, and now we're all trying to pick up the pieces."

The suit claims that Beyonce had "already negotiated lavish compensation" for the game, made an "extortionate demand for entirely new compensation" at a "crucial moment in the project's development," causing the main financier to back out.

Reps for Beyonce did not get back to the Post.

TELEVISION REVIEWERS PLEASE DO YOUR JOB!

I jumped at the chance last weekend to finally own a 3D television.  The one I found was affordable, it looked great, and it came with internet accessibility.

It was the Vizio brand sold in most Walmart stores and the remote even has a qwerty keyboard.

By the time I got home I was very satisfied with the picture, 3D performance, 120Hz, and sound quality.  But what threw me for a loop after a watching a while was the internet accessibility feature.

The tv was also wireless which is also a  plus and huge bargain at $698.

cool qwerty keyboard on the tv remote
The problem I ran into was the apps provided by Yahoo.  It gives you everything you need like Facebook and Twitter.  It's all right there on your television.  However, it did not stay on my television.

Every time I loaded an internet app or program it crashed after about 30 seconds.  I thought something was wrong with this particular tv because all of the reviews were great.

Apparently, no one spent any time monitoring the apps on the set before publishing those reviews.

So, I decided to take the first television back and get a second one.  When I got the next Vizio home it did the same thing.

I called customer service and the best they could do is tell me to reboot the tv and call them back if I have more problems.  I did.  I skipped the call back and went online and found a laundry list of people who complained about the same thing - apps crashing.

Needless to say, I took the second television back to Walmart.

I guess it's time I pull out an extra $500 and get that Samsung Smart TV.  I hope that set doesn't have any bugs I don't know about!

EMILY AKIN HAS TAKEN A BITE OUT OF THE APPLE!

The Insite is not happy with what I witnessed in the Fox 26 newsroom. Another of my coworkers has an Apple Ipad. Emily Akin is now the owner of the computer device. I tried to convince her to go with the Samsung Galaxy Tab but Akin says her husband bought the Ipad 2 as a gift. Dang it.

T.D. JAKES' NEW MOVIE PREMIERES IN DALLAS, TEXAS!

Angela Bassett
T.D. Jakes' April 23 red carpet screening of his upcoming film, Jumping the Broom, a project with Sony Pictures, drew an impressive parade of Hollywood stars and other dignitaries to Dallas' NorthPark AMC Theater. The special preview was followed by Easter service at The Potter's House Church on Sunday, April 24.
Debuting in theaters on May 6, 2011, Jumping the Broom is a light-hearted movie showing the clash of two families from different backgrounds during a weekend wedding.  With wit and wisdom, Jumping the Broom explores the cultural and spiritual challenges of abstinence, motherhood, family, and relationships alongside themes such as forgiveness, family secrets, and misperceptions.

The remarkable cast includes Angela Bassett, Loretta Devine, Julie Bowen, Paula Patton, Laz Alonso, Mike Epps, Tasha Smith, Gary Dourdan, Valarie Pettiford, Vera Cudjoe, Megan Good, Romeo Miller, DeRay Davis, and Pooch Hall—many of whom attended the Dallas event.   Bassett and Patton were also joined by their celebrity spouses, actor Courtney B. Vance and R&B heartthrob Robin Thicke.

"The entire weekend is meant to send a message," Jakes said to media from more than 50 outlets across the nation. "It's a new day for diversity in filmmaking and for growth of the Dallas-based film market. So while the Los Angeles premiere comes next week, the real celebration is here with my city, friends, and The Potter's House congregation."

For its part, the City of Dallas named Saturday, April 23, 2011 "T.D. Jakes/Jumping the Broom Day."

DON'T EVER EVER EVER USE CASH AT BEST BUY UNLESS YOU CAN AFFORD TO WAIT!

Monday I decided to return a television back to the electronics retailer Best Buy in the Woodlands.

I bought it Saturday with good old American cash.

But when I got the Sharp product home I realized it blinked off and on.  Also, the internet promised with the tv was less than stellar.

So, like any unsatisfied customer I decided to take it back on Monday.  The store was closed for Easter Sunday.

After the tech checked it out I actually thought I was cleared for my refund.  I was wrong.

Actually, I was shocked when the clerk told me because I paid cash over $250 I would have to wait 10 to 15 business days to get my money back in a check.  I asked why.  The clerk told me it was clearly stated in the fine print on my receipt.  She also said Best Buy doesn't like to keep lots of cash in their store.

So, if you ever go to buy something from Best Buy never use cash.  You could be waiting weeks before you get your money back.

Oh, make sure you read the fine print as well!

WHAT IS THE INTEREST IN CUPCAKES?

From the Woodlands to Westheimer, cupcake stores are popping up everywhere in Houston.

I'm going to be completely honest and say I simply don't get it.

Some say you could pay as much as $4 per cupcake.  That's like highway robbery to me.

It's not even a full cake.  It's not a pound cake.  It's a few ounces of cake.

Spending that much money on a cupcake is outlandish to me.  But that's just me.

Tell the Insite what's the appeal of a cupcake shop.  Is it the new happening trend?

Please let me know because I'm lost on this one!

WILL HPD GET NEW TASERS?

New Tasers in Houston?

Last week the Insite had a 50 minute long conversation with HPD Chief Charles McClelland.  It was to discuss his one year anniversary as the top cop at the Houston Police Department.

One of the topics of discussion - tasers.

You know those space age devices that Houston cops carry.  They can zap you instead of putting a bullet in a suspect.

HPD Chief Charles McClelland
Chief McClelland says just like computers the technology involved with tasers is always changing.  He says he'd like to upgrade the current ones on the streets.

McClelland says in the next few months the department will make a move to bring in a new line of tasers to the officers in the department.

However, McClelland didn't say how the money strapped police department will pay for them with possible layoffs looming.

HPD spent nearly $5 million since 2004 for over 5,000 stun guns from Taser International based in Arizona.

The Insite will keep you updated!

THERE'S ALREADY INTEREST IN ONE OF THE NEW PROPOSED COUNCIL DISTRICTS!

John Guess and his sister attorney Carol Guess

If you've ever been to Houston City Hall you've probably seen him.  If you've been out in the community, you've likely seen him rolling up his sleeve and helping out.  We're talking about Houston City Controller employee John Guess.
John Guess delivering toys to sick kids at Christmas

Guess has worked for Controller Ronald Green in various capacities for nearly a decade and now the Insite hears he may be ready to step out of the shadows.

Sources say Guess is considering forming an exploratory committee to run for the proposed City Council District K in southwest Houston.

As a result of the increase in population the city of Houston is adding at least two more council seats.

No word from Guess as of yet if he is in fact running for the post.

Once the plans for redistricting have been reviewed by the federal government Houston's City Council could vote on it as early as next month!

DIDDY'S POLICE ESCORT IN THE BIG APPLE UNDER INVESTIGATION!

New York City police say a sergeant allowed a police escort for Sean "P. Diddy" Combs for one city block after a concert.

The police department says the assistance was unauthorized and is under investigation.  Police say the Friday night escort was requested by the hip-hop star's dry cleaner, who asked several officers before the sergeant
agreed.

One police van escorted Combs from the Hammerstein Ballroom to just near the entrance for the Lincoln Tunnel. The department says claims that several officers escorted Combs to New Jersey are false.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg says security is the only reason anyone should get a police escort.

A representative for Combs has no comment.

FOREST FIRE HITS THE WESTSIDE OF CONROE!

More than a dozen families and their homes were threatened in Conroe today as a forest fire swept through the west side of the city.

Firefighters say they're still not sure how the fire started but it cut through at least 20 acres of land. There was concern for the dozen or so of families who live in Summers Gate subdivision just off loop 336.

The fire came right to the back of their homes in the neighborhood.

Keith Werley says his son in law called him at work and thats when he jumped into his truck and headed home.

Werley says he was relieved when he realized the Conroe Fire department had the situation under control.

However, some of Werley's neighbors took extra precautions by using their home sprinkled system to keep the back of their property moist.

Conroe Fire Chief Ken Krager says the toughest problem fighting the fire were the strong winds and dry conditions. Krager says it took about three hours to control the flames. He confirms no property was destroyed and no one was injured.

Firefighters will remain on the scene of the fire for at least 24 hours to ensure it doesn't flare back up.

SMUGGLERS GET TOUGH PRISON SENTENCE!

Alejandro Pantoja-Rosales, 29, and Juan Romero-Trejo, 36, both of Houston, have been sentenced to federal prison for holding smuggled aliens hostage for ransom payments, United States Attorney José Angel Moreno announced today.
U.S. District Judge Vanessa Gilmore sentenced Pantoja-Rosales to 262 months imprisonment, while Romero-Trejo received 240 months. Pantoja-Rosales and Romero-Trejo pleaded guilty on March 26, 2010, to one count of hostage taking and conspiracy to commit hostage taking, respectively.

Both defendants admitted to harboring aliens in a Houston stash house and apartment where the aliens were kept until relatives or friends paid a fee for their release. Four other defendants, Heriberto Perez-Pinon, 26, Israel Perez-Pinon, 27, Edgar Ivan Guerrero, 21, and Eduardo Lopez-Vargas, 33, have also pleaded guilty in the case to hostage taking or conspiracy to commit hostage taking.

On Aug. 21, 2009, Heriberto Perez-Pinon, Pantoja-Rosales, Lopez-Vargas and Guerrero drove to a location near El Campo, Texas, in order to target a load of 13 aliens being transported by another smuggler. In the effort to hijack the pickup truck in which the 13 aliens were being transported, Pantoja-Rosales fired multiple gunshots at the truck. The defendants then dragged the driver from the pickup who was pistol-whipped until he was severely injured. Pantoja-Rosales then drove off with the load of 13 aliens with the three other defendants following in separate vehicles. The smuggled aliens were taken to a Houston stash house on the 5400 block of Heron Drive, where Israel Perez-Pinon and Guerrero placed telephone calls to the aliens’ relatives demanding money, paid by wire transfer, for their release.

The investigation leading to the arrest and filing of criminal charges began when a concerned citizen contacted the Houston Police Department (HPD) on behalf of two aliens who escaped from the load on the way to the stash house. While talking with officers, the two aliens noticed Pantoja-Rosales and Lopez-Vargas drive-by, apparently attempting to recapture them. HPD officers arrested Pantoja-Rosales and Lopez-Vargas. Officers and agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) were then led to the stash house on Heron Drive, where Guerrero and Israel Perez-Pinon were found guarding four aliens in a middle bedroom who had not yet been released.  The electricity to the house had been turned off.

ICE-HSI agents and HPD officers learned of the possibility that the organization was harboring additional aliens at an apartment located on the 4000 block of Hollister. There, agents and officers discovered Romero-Trejo, who was arrested, and two female aliens. Heriberto Perez-Pinon was arrested the following day during a traffic stop.

The two female aliens found at the apartment, as well as a third female alien who came forward days later, stated that they had been sexually assaulted by Romero-Trejo and Pantoja-Rosales.

Today, Pantoja-Rosales’ and Romero-Trejo’s sentences were pronounced following a lengthy sentencing hearing during which one of the female illegal aliens who was held hostage for upwards of two weeks testified. The woman described how Pantoja-Rosales and Romero-Trejo sexually assaulted her and two other female aliens on multiple occasions while awaiting ransom payments from the womens’ families. Also stated in court today was information regarding a rape kit examination following the testifying woman’s rescue by immigration agents which revealed the presence of DNA that was later linked to defendant Romero-Trejo.

All of the defendants, with the exception of Guerrero who is a U.S. citizen, are themselves undocumented aliens.
Already sentenced in the case was Guerrero, who received a 210-month term of imprisonment on April 18, 2011. Israel Perez-Pinion is scheduled for sentencing on May 9, 2011, while Lopez-Vargas is set for June 6, 2011. Heriberto Perez-Pinon, the believed leader of the conspiracy, will be sentenced on June 6, 2011.

The case was investigated by ICE-HSI with the assistance of HPD. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Searle.

FLAVA FLAV SHUTS DOWN HIS CHICKEN JOINT!

A fried chicken restaurant in Iowa founded by Flavor Flav has abruptly closed its doors after the reality TV
star and his business partner cut ties and exchanged harsh words.

Flav's Fried Chicken in Clinton, Iowa, closed on Sunday, just four months after opening to much fanfare.

Flav told WQAD-TV that he was pulling a license that allowed restaurant manager Nick Cimino to use his name in the restaurant because he "isn't running the business right." Some former employees had complained they were not paid.

Cimino told the station Flav was "a fraud" who was trying to get rich off of his ideas and work.

Flav, a founder of the hip-hop group Public Enemy and later a star of VH1's "The Surreal Life," opened the business with Cimino in January.

MONDAY MORNING FITNESS WITH DAN!

Fitness Expert & Personal Trainer Daniel Malveaux
Question: When do i eat before exercise?

The foods you eat before you exercise and the timing of your meals or snacks really does matter. You don't want to have a full stomach when you work out, but you don't want to be hungry either. If you eat a large meal just before you exercise, you may experience nausea, feel sluggish or end up with muscle cramps. This happens because your body needs energy to digest the foods you eat so blood flow increases to your digestive system, leaving less energy-providing blood for muscles.
Exercising on an empty stomach isn't good either. Skipping meals before exercising can cause low blood sugar, which can make you to feel weak and light-headed. You also need some energy in the form of the right types of food to properly fuel your work out. Eating a light meal before exercise may actually increase your fat-burning potential.
