Award-winning journalist Lloyd Gite is pulling double duty to unveil his new television and radio talk shows titled "Straight Talk With Lloyd Gite." The television program kicks off on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at 6 a.m., on KTBU-TV Channel 55. The following evening, "Straight Talk" will air Sundays on KCOH Radio 1430 AM, at 6 p.m.
"Straight Talk" will examine issues of importance to the global urban community, such as, politics, race, unemployment, AIDS, healthcare and education. The program also will feature celebrity interviews with noted authors, entertainers, artists and athletes.
When asked to describe his new television and radio programs, Gite says, "Straight Talk will cover an array of issues. No subject is off limits. I will bring in experts to discuss issues that not only effect, but affect our city. We'll explore relationships between the races and ask the tough questions. While many of the topics will be hard-hitting, there will also be a light side to the discussions as well. Straight Talk will deliver."
Gite has worked in television for 25 years and is known for his celebrity interviews with notables such as Julia Roberts, Richard Gere, Beyonce', Halle Berry, Denzel Washington, Vanessa Williams, Lily Tomlin, Bette Midler and hundreds of other stars. In addition to celebrities, Gite has interviewed U.S. presidents and heads of state. He is also a well known and respected writer whose works have appeared in USA Today, Glamour Magazine, Essence, Money Magazine, GQand Black Enterprise, just to name a few.
Gite received his bachelor's degree in political science and history from North Texas State University, and his master's degree in radio, television and film from the University of Michigan.
