Mayor Annie Parker's office reports there is now an agreement between the firefighter's union and her administration.
The agreement keeps Houston firefighters from being laid off because of the city's $75 million budget gap.
The deal struck would call for no raises for firefighters for the next two years. The city workers would then get a 1% raise in the third and final year of their newly negotiated contract with the city.
The city needed an additional $14 million in concessions from the union to prevent layoffs.
