Baton Rouge Police confiscated an Uzi-style machine gun from a former student of McKinley High School Friday.
According to investigators, about 1,000 people were on campus in the evening for a talent show when a fight broke out. Officers went to arrest the man who allegedly started the fight, and when they approached him, he took off running. Officers say, that's when they saw him toss a massive gun from his hands.
Officers say the gun was similar to a Mac 10. It is capable of firing nearly 1,100 bullets per minute.
Detectives identified the former student carrying it as 18-year old Rickey Jones. Jones was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a $75,000 bond.
That's not the only gun found on campus Friday. According to investigators another man, Jacque Bellard had two weapons inside the trunk of his car. He was also arrested for carrying a weapon on a firearm free zone.
Parents outside McKinley High School told News 2, they are concerned but not surprised.
"Kids these days get their hands on it, drugs too," One parent said.
