The Texas Women's Empowerment Foundation (TWEF) has announced that it will send 20 Youth to Washington D.C. for an all expense paid educational trip as part of the Eagle Scholars Student Enrichment Program. Students will travel from Houston Texas to Washington D.C. on May 6 and spend two (2) days meeting distinguished individuals and visiting historic and iconic sites in our nation's capital.

There will be a special rally Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 6pm at the Empowerment Community Center, 8333 Sweetwater Lane, Houston Texas, 77037, featuring a mentoring message from Bernard "Bun B" Freeman. Best known as one half of the dynamic rap group UGK, Bun B is now a distinguished lecturer of Religion and Hip-Hop Culture at Rice University-Houston.
TWEF Founder, Deavra Daughtry says, "This is a wonderful exposure opportunity for these young men to see our nation's capital and interact with leaders from around the nation." The Eagle Scholars Student Enrichment Program is a FREE eighteen (18) week after school program held at the Empowerment Community Center that helps male students, ages 8-18, in low to moderate income neighborhoods build character, expand their dreams and personal vision for their lives, develop valuable communication skills and learn vital lessons for living an empowered life.
